A Canada visa application requires two identical photographs taken within the last six months. The frame must be at least 35 mm by 45 mm, with the head measuring from 31 mm to 36 mm from chin to crown. We control the light, background and framing, then provide the printed photographs and a digital file.

The frame can look right while missing a measured requirement.
Canada visa photographs have a measured head size and a minimum frame size. The full front view must include the top of the shoulders, with the face in the middle. The background must be plain white or light-coloured. We control these details before checking the finished photographs.
Head size, chin to crown
The head must measure between 31 mm and 36 mm from chin to crown. A small framing error can put the photograph outside that range.
Plain, light background
The background must be plain white or light-coloured. Controlled studio lighting keeps the background clean and avoids unwanted shadow.
Glasses without obstruction
Non-tinted prescription glasses are allowed when your eyes remain clearly visible. The frame cannot cover any part of your eyes, and sunglasses are not acceptable.

A precise measurement from the chin to the crown.
For a Canada visa photograph, the head must measure between 31 mm and 36 mm from the chin to the crown. The crown means the top of the head.
If the top of the skull cannot be seen under hair or a head covering, the crown is the point where the top of the skull would be. We use that point when checking the head measurement.
